Today was a very very good day. We started off with a leisurely breakfast to fortify for our adventures and then hopped into the kayaks to explore. We paddled about a mile to the neighboring bay. We passed by a flock of juvenile Pelicans sunning on the rocks and let the currents drift us over the shallows near shore where we watched fish dart in and out of their coral homes and crabs skitter across rocks.
From there we slowly worked our way to the next point and splashed into the water for some snorkeling. We tied the kayaks together by long lines and I looped one end over my wrist to keep them from drifting away while we swam. I felt a little like the pied piper tugging them along.
The water here is crystal clear and warm enough to forgo a wetsuit (at least for the first 20 minutes or so). Brian got some nice go pro videos of the schools of fish and coral we floated over.
Swimming and paddling a kayak in waves and current is great exercise and wears out unfit individuals like us. By the time we got back to the boat we were both tired and ready for a nap!
Tomorrow we plan to up anchor and move to another cove about 8 miles from here. Looking forward to the next exploratory adventure there.
